To commemorate their 25th anniversary, Warwick wanted create a very special limited edition bass. The "Flamin' Blonde" combines some materials that Warwick has never used before to make an instrument that really shines.
For the body wood, Warwick chose lacewood for the top and back, with a thin piece of yellow heart (pau amerello) sandwiched in between. Besides be visually stunning, lacewood offers warmth and clarity in the low end with even mids and sparkling highs.
The neck is made from strips of wenge and yellow heart, with a tiger-striped ebony fingerboard. Custom, red-hot "flame" inlays are used as fret markers and, of course, Warwick uses their special bell brass frets. The neck is fast access to the upper register is made easy with the Thumb body design and the soft heel.
To carry the flame theme through out the instrument, Warwick put matching flame inlays on the headstock and on the tops of each control knob. The look of this hot bass is down-right cool!
For electronics, Warwick selected a passive MEC Large Pole pickup (with $$ switching) for the bridge postion and a passive MEC SC pickup for the neck position. To give players the most control over their tone, an active, 3-band MEC preamp was selected. The combination of passive pickups with an active preamp will allow players to achieve a huge variety of tones and textures.
As with previous limited edition Warwick basses, each instrument is hand-signed by Hans Peter Wilfer and will include a Certificate of Authentication.
